Maintenance

from Old French “maintenance” & “maintenir “, Meaning to "upkeep; shelter, protection, to keep, sustain; persevere, action of upholding or keeping in good order".

Maintenance refers to the actions needed to keep and preserve the systems, equipment, or structures functioning properly. This includes regular inspections, repairs, and replacements. Preventive maintenance helps avoid failures and extends the lifespan of assets so they can continue serving their intended purpose.

Corrective maintenance

Corrective maintenance is a type of maintenance used for equipment after equipment break down or malfunction.

Preventative maintenace

The care and servicing by personnel for the purpose of maintaining equipment in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects.

Adaptive maintenance

the process of modifying and updating software applications after their initial deployment to keep them responsive to changing conditions

 Perfective maintenance

involves making functional enhancements to software. It focuses on implementing new or updated requirements and improving performance
